All decisions about how Rent is spent and administered are made by a Sovereign Body and the Pay the Rent Sovereign Body is only accountable to mob.
Pay the Rent is not accountable to rent payers in relation to how Rent is spent.
Rent money is spent on both community survival needs and the fight for justice.
Pay the Rent is able to contribute towards funeral expenses.

The information you will need are: the funeral home details and the date of passing. Do not upload the Funeral Home invoice, PTR staff will deal with this for you.

How does it work?
Pay The Rent provides financial support towards the funeral of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who has returned to the Dreaming. We provide a one-off payment directly to the nominated funeral home.
After you submit your application, we will contact the funeral home to request an invoice and arrange payment. Once payment is made, we will advise you.
Do we have to pay the money back?
No. Pay The Rent contributes to funerals as a way of supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
Can you help us with travel costs, funeral clothing, or catering for the wake?
Unfortunately we are unable to offer support in these areas, please contact your local Aboriginal Land Council or Aboriginal organisation for assistance.
What is the eligibility criteria to apply for Pay The Rent Funeral Support?
The deceased person must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
Who can apply?
The Funeral Support application can be completed by
- the Next of Kin(NoK),
- by someone on behalf of the NoK, or
- by the Funeral Home on behalf of the family.
Do I need to upload Confirmation of Aboriginality, a Death Certificate or a Funeral Program?
No, the only documentation we require for your application is an invoice, this can be uploaded with your application or emailed through to us (email@example.com).
I don’t have the invoice to upload with my application, can I still apply?
Yes. Once your application is received, we will contact the nominated funeral home and request an invoice to arrange payment.
